Kie Shiki, a Buddhist Confirmation and Naming Ceremony

Bishop Kodo Umezu, the Bishop of Buddhist Churches of America, is coming to Ekoji to perform a Kie Shiki, a Buddhist Confirmation and Naming ceremony on January 19, 2020.

The Kie Shiki, as set by the BCA, is a ceremony to give a Buddhist name to those individuals who feel ready to commit to live with the Three Treasures as a Shin (Jodo Shinshu) Buddhist in front of the altar of Amida Buddha.

All pledged members of Ekoji and their children may request an application form by emailing: ekojikieshiki@gmail.com

The Kie Shiki ceremony will be held during the Hoonko service at 11 am. Hoonko is the annual memorial service for the founder of Shin Buddhism, Shinran Shonin.
