Jaffe, Creed C. Black Associate Professor of Religion at Duke University, will be the featured speaker for Ekoji Buddhist Temple&rsquo;s Spring Seminar.</p>
<p>Join us on May&nbsp;19, 2012 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. when Dr. Jaffe will discuss Japanese Buddhism and D.T. Suzuki.</p>
<p>Dr. Jaffe&rsquo;s research is focused on the development of Japanese Buddhism from the sixteenth century to the present. Current projects include a study of travel and encounters between Japanese and other Buddhists during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries and, as general editor, overseeing the publication of five volumes of the writings of D. T. Suzuki.&nbsp;&nbsp;Research specialties include Buddhism and East Asian Religions, including Japanese Buddhism, and Buddhism and Modernity.&nbsp;&nbsp;Dr. Jaffe received his PhD from Yale University in 1995.&nbsp;&nbsp;He is currently chairman of the Religion Department.</p>
<p>&nbsp;Lunch will be provided for a $5 donation. This event is open to the public.</p>
